Fountain Hills Recap!

We had a show in Burbank last month that started off beautifully!
The sun was shining, the birds were singing, the clouds were threatening...
The show ended early and in the middle of packing, we got hailed on. There's nothing better than getting pelted with pellets of ice as you're trying to load heavy boxes of fine art into the van!

Fountain Hills was somewhat similar. The forecast called for rain, but we had an easy sunset setup.
The rains came on Saturday but luckily didn't bring any winds with them. I (Bexter) did my best at the most important part of the job: keeping Ora caffeinated throughout the show.
I'm fairly certain that between the two of us, we depleted the majority of Sofrita's coffee bean supply.

Now here's a look at the official end page of Ora's art book, coming soon to a show near you! It'll also be available for purchase via Ora's Art around the end of January.
And here's a progress show from Ora's latest original, Nectar. This one will be available for your viewing pleasure at our first show of the new year in Fountain Hills.

On Thursday we head out to Arizona for the Tempe Festival of the Arts!

Sneak Peaks!

Hey everyone! We've got a plethora of sneak peaks of Ora's new works. Prepare yourself for a feast of the eyes!
This is "Cheers!" This beauty began as a drawing in Carefree, Arizona, and has finally become a gorgeous painting! "Cheers!" will be finished by the next blog post, so prepare yourselves!
Ora has been ridiculously busy with the past month off, as you can tell.
Another drawing that has become so much more.
The brilliant artist herself adding more detail to "Nectar".
A closer peak to some more detail on "Nectar".

Don't forget, this weekend we'll be at the Burbank Art Fair on Saturday and Sunday. Come visit us - the weather promises to be beautiful and cool!

Boulder City Recap!

We had a ridiculously WARM show in Boulder City, Nevada. By warm, I mean HOT. We're so excited for the relentless heat to end!
It was a gorgeous show! We had a packed booth the entire time, in spite of this:
The fan was on full blast the entire show while I (Bexter) hosed myself down in a pitiful attempt to not pass out from heat exhaustion. In all seriousness, we had a wonderful show and loved seeing so many familiar faces and meeting so many new ones!

Ora's been hard at work since we've been back. One of her newest pieces has fallen into place, simply flowing from her paintbrush like a river.
12 ounces. I like to think I had something to do with this: Being a geeky beer connoisseur I've opened Ora's eyes to the beauty of malts and hops (I'm done with patting myself on the back now).
I LOVE how this painting has turned out!
In Boulder City we got to visit the local brewery, Boulder Dam Brewing, and grabbed a sampler. This was purely for research purposes for Ora's painting. Yes, research...

Our next show will be in November in Burbank! Come down and visit in the (hopefully) beautifully cool weather!

Saturday, November 5th and Sunday November 6th
10am to 5pm
San Fernando Road between Magnolia and Olive Avenue

And We're Back!

It's been a jam-packed few months! We went to Bellevue, Fremont, Palo Alto, Mountain View and Lafayette! Finally we've got an entire weekend off to catch our breath and relax.
Lafayette was an extremely busy show.
It was also extremely hot! I couldn't believe how many people were there, packing the streets during 92 degree weather!

Ora's been making progress on the latest original: Nectar. Here's a sneak peak:
We also have a new, OFFICIAL Ora's Art Fan Page. Go to Facebook.com/OrasArt and "like" us. You'll be able to get all the info about upcoming shows, see even more updates of originals as well as detailed images, and we'll be answering any question you've got.

Breckenridge and Los Altos Recap!

Sorry the blog hasn't been updated in so long. We've been CRAZY busy with travel! Back at the beginning of July we traveled all the way to Breckenridge, Colorado for the Mountain Arts Festival. It was a long two day drive, but we made it!
The Colorado river was RAGING!
Breckenridge was absolutely beautiful.
Our booth was right on the edge of the water. Once the walls were up, we couldn't see it but we got to appreciate the sound of the rushing river. The show went well - we met a lot of new people who started their Ora's Art collections.

After we got home, we had a single day off before jumping right back into the van and heading up to Los Altos.
Ora with some of her collectors! We had a VERY busy show up in Los Altos! Those who missed us in Sunnyvale (which we ended up not setting up/attending because of the downpour) came by during this show to say hello and check out Ora's latest works.

Tomorrow we head right back up to Menlo Park for the Connoisseurs' Marketplace! If you missed us in Sunnyvale AND in Los Altos, or if you just love Ora's work that much, come on by!

Connoisseurs' Marketplace
Saturday, July 16th and Sunday, July 17th
10am to 6pm

And now I leave you with another one of Ora's work-in-progress:

We hope to see you this weekend!

About Sunnyvale...

In case you showed up to the show in Sunnyvale, you may have noticed something... We weren't there.

We made the drive up the coast in beautiful weather, but when we awoke Saturday morning to set up (at 4am, thank you very much), it was raining. No, not just raining.
POURING.

Ora and I tried to find our booth location, but the rain had washed all the markings off of the sidewalk. We parked near where we THOUGHT the booth was, and went for breakfast to wait out the rain.
The rain didn't stop. Here's Ora standing under an awning, still holding her umbrella.
Double coverage: Yes, it was that rainy.

Basically, we waited around for the rain to stop. It didn't. We packed up and headed back down the coast.

The good news: We'll be attending the La Jolla Arts Festival in two weeks! Here's all the info:

Saturday, June 18th and Sunday, June 19th
9am to 5pm
Genesee Avenue and Regents Road
$10 admission

The other good news: We tried mead for the first time up in Sunnyvale.
Not the worst way to keep dry!

Henderson Recap!

First off, I would like to thank each and every one of you who braved the heat and the winds to come visit us in Henderson, Nevada this past weekend!

If you were there Sunday morning to afternoon, you know that we started taking the tent apart early.

Unfortunately, it wasn't early enough!

The winds REALLY picked up, and our booth was trying to mosey away from us, down the street. It was only hampered by NINE people holding on for dear life.

To the other eight of you who helped save us from serious injury - a BIG thank you!
I can't explain how grateful I am that you all were willing to risk life and limb to keep the booth from flying away.

On a lighter note:
Happy customers!!!

San Diego Recap!

We had the San Diego ArtWalk in Little Italy last weekend.
It was an absolutely GORGEOUS weekend! We could not have asked for more perfect weather. The streets were filled, Ora's booth was packed, and everyone was in a grand mood!
How could you not be, with Italian restaurants up the wazoo? I (Bexter) actually said to Ora, "It's so strange how many Italian restaurants there are around Little.... Italy.... Oh..."
I'm SMRT like that.
It wasn't ALL gorgeous weather and general contentment though...
We also had to sit through a couple of these sunsets overlooking the harbor.
The life of an artist, I'll tell ya!

For this upcoming weekend... We're headed to Henderson!

Burbank Recap and a New Original!

Burbank was HOT.
SUPER HOT.
Bexter-wanted-to-pass-out type of HOT.
Luckily, Ora and I actually had a nice amount of shade, unlike our poor neighbor.
Chris Brake - sidewalk chalk artist. This poor guy was in the blazing sunlight the entire day, covered in chalk dust as he created this masterpiece.
I kept a close eye on the booth - from the outside, where there was a slight breeze instead of hot, stagnant air.
Ora switched up the booth design and set Imagine in the center instead of the usual Aquarius.
And then I delicately dropped the frame on the ground and broke it...
Oops :(

Here's some good news to distract you from the fact that I'm a frame-destroyer...
ORA HAS FINISHED THE LATEST ORIGINAL PAINTING!!!
Infinite will be traveling with us to San Diego this upcoming weekend.

I saw it finished for the first time today in the studio and I can honestly say that my crappy camera picture does NOT do it justice! Come down to San Diego and see for yourselves!

Saturday, April 30th and Sunday, May 1st
11am-6pm
Little Italy
Downtown San Diego, CA
On Beech Street between Kettner Blvd and India St.
Booth #134, 136

Tempe and Tucson Round-up!

We're back from another two weeks on the road! First up was Tempe - we had beautiful weather and lots of regulars swinging by the booth. It was a BUSY weekend, so Ora and I unwound in the best way.
We swung by RĂșla BĂșla and enjoyed some fine Irish dining!
Guinness makes everything better!
(Actually, neither Ora nor I like Guinness much... Ora had hers with champagne while I opted for some Magner's cider.)

Tucson was... HOT! We ended up internally roasting the entire time in our cozy little booth. Luckily, the heat didn't keep the art fans away!
There was a consistent flow along the street. Seeing that we were located on the corner of 4th Avenue and 6th Street, we got wave after wave of people. They rushed across the street when the walk sign flashed and ended up in a massive group, staring in awe at Ora's art.
It got so crowded that you had to fight your way out of the booth in order to fetch more iced green tea! I (Bexter) made many enemies as I shoved my way out in search of icy beverages.

Now that we're back home, Ora has done some AMAZING work on her newest piece, Infinite. Let's see a progression:
Part 1
Part 2
Part 3! There's still a little more to be done, but it's getting close!

Next show is Downtown Burbank Fine Arts Festival on Saturday and Sunday.
Downtown Burbank Arts Festival
April 16-17
Saturday 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM
Sunday   10:00 AM to 5:00 PM
Where: San Fernando Blvd, between Magnolia and Olive

Booth #: 31-32

Come on down if you're in the area!

Carefree Recap!

We're heading out for another trip tomorrow, but I still need to catch you up on Carefree!
We started off on a good note - Sangria! What can I say, Fountain Hills has created a monster (or two)! Ora may or may not have done a new original drawing titled, "Lady Sangria"...
We finally visited Chef Sara's FINISHED raw vegan cafe, and it was EPIC!
We split the combo appetizer - almond falafel, olive pate, hummus, green salad and raw vegan crackers.
I asked Sara to "surprise me" and received a WOW tower - nuts and seeds that have been soaked to release the enzymes, along with a bunch of shredded veggies - I can't even begin to tell you what was in here. It was PACKED with nutrition. Kind of an interesting/slimy texture, but I loved the crunch and the spice!
Our absolute favorite part of the meal - Tiramisu! This had a base of medjool dates and crushed almonds, topped with macadamia nut cream, Sara's homemade dark chocolate and cocoa powder. I'll go back just for the desserts - it was that amazing!

The show was a bit quiet, but we got to meet a lot of wonderful people who collect Ora's art. Many fond memories were exchanged.

Tomorrow we head off to Tempe, Arizona. We already know about Crave, the restaurant/bar across from our booth, but is there anywhere else local that we should eat??
